Obituary of Shirley Waite

Shirley J. Waite W. Pawlet, VT - It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Jean Waite of West Pawlet announce her passing on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Shirley was born January 27, 1932 in Middletown Springs, VT, the daughter of the late Byron & Jaska (Lewis) Moyer. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband Francis E. Waite, her siblings Lewis, Rob, Tink, John, Carly and Maude. She is survived by her sister Elsie Thomas, her brother Peter Moyer and several nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish her memories are her children Tim (Nancy) Waite, Laurie (Mike) Grottoli, Francis (Brenda) Waite Grandchildren Lisa (Parrish) Roberts, Melissa (Mike) Moore, Rebecca (Mark) Patch, Jamie Waite, Kristi Waite, Sierra (Tanner) Bush, Buster (Amanda) Waite, Chelsea Waite Great Grandchildren, Olivia, Thomas, Taylor, Mia, Brett, Laila, Thalia, Jacie, Aria, Jaxon and TJ. Known as Gramma for the past 44 years, 18 years ago she became a Great Grandmother who was lovingly called Ma. Gramma's greatest passion was her family, however her flower gardens, feeding the birds and baking brought her immense joy. She was known far and wide for her gorgeous gardens and people would often drive by just to take a peek. There wasn't a bird in Spruce Gum that went hungry. The cookie jar was never empty at Gramma's - she made the best chocolate chip cookies and mac & cheese. Everything she made was filled with love and no one could make it better. Tea and toast with strawberry jam just won't be the same without her. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 10am at Mountainview Cemetery, West Pawlet.
