Obituary of Frederick William Zinn

Frederick William Zinn III Rupert, Vermont – Frederick "Bill" W. Zinn, III passed away on March 16, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital. Bill was born on December 1, 1949, in Norwalk, CT the son of the late Frederick W. Zinn, Jr. and Elinor (Deverill) Zinn. Bill graduated from J. M. Tech High School in Connecticut. He was a Veteran of the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam Conflict (1968-1972). In 1975 he married Judy (Hughes) Zinn. He was employed by the Salem Highway DPW, and retired on January 17, 2017. Bill became a Boy Scout leader when his three sons were old enough to join scouting. He was an Eagle Scout and his three sons also achieved that distinction. He was a tireless member of the Granville Rescue Squad, serving for over 20 years. He was a Lifetime member, served in many leadership positions, and was currently the President. He was a member of the Rupert Fire Department and served his community as a Selectman in Rupert. He had also belonged to the Masons in Pawlet, VT. Bill enjoyed shopping at tag sales. He was always looking for that "bargain" which he was a master at dickering for. He was proficient at woodworking. He loved the annual family trips to Maine for that relaxing ocean view. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Zinn and his three sons Paul, Michael (Michelle) and Timothy(Ashlee) all of Granville. He was blessed with two grandsons Mason and Owen. He is also survived by two sisters Kathleen Lombard of Connecticut and Karen Zinn of Florida. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law Jaime Castle. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10 AM at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville with the Rev. Jerry McKinney presiding.
