Obituary of Vickie Marie Demers

Vickie M. Demers Granville, NY – Vickie M. Demers passed away on July 2, 2022, in Indian Lake, NY on a family camping trip. Vickie was born in Rutland, Vermont on November 21, 1955, the daughter of Gilbert and Van (Swahn) Garvey the eldest of three children. She grew up in a loving home. Vickie and her mother were best of friends besides being mother and daughter. And married Gaylord Demers and they made their home in North Granville. They had a loving marriage for forty years. The love with which Vickie was raised gave her the example to raise her own five children. She was a grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her own children she raised a grandson, Bret Hilliker as though he was her own. She was very kind and loving to so many people. She loved watching wrestling and Nasar racing on television. She looked forward to trips to the beach and camping with her family. Her idea day would be one where there was a family cookout. She enjoyed cooking and trying different recipes. Vickie was a collector. Her collections encompassed dolphins, lighthouses, dolls and angels. She will be remembered by family and friends for her compassion. She was a great listener and there for who every needed a shoulder to lay their head on, as well as her beautiful smile and great laugh. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter Tonya and son Paul. Vickie is survived by her loving husband Gaylord. Left to cherish her love are her children: Theresa Moffitt (Acey), Richard Demers (Bonnie Burke) and Mary Santini. She was blessed with her grandchildren: Bret and Marcus Hilliker, Skylar and Billy Joe Landon Jr., Joshua Prosser, Alexander and Sabrina Moffitt, Acey Moffitt Jr. and Destiny, Stephanie, and Christopher Santini and great grandchildren: Patrick Andrew Prosser, Elinicholas Landon-Mohr, Amelia Mohr, Jazmine, Randolph and Hailey Prosser, Willow and Serenity and her siblings: Glen Garvey (Karen), and Corky Garvey. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Noon at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Granville, NY where she will be laid to rest with her daughter and son who predeceased her. Rev. Chichester will do the service.
