Felix A. Reed Sr. Wells, VT - Felix Andrew Reed Sr., passed away at his home on Saturday, July 9, 2022, following a long illness. Felix was born on August 16, 1940, in Danby, Vermont the son of Lester and May (Stone) Reed. He enlisted in the Army to serve his country. Little did he know that in addition to the pride he felt from serving his country he returned home with the love of his life whom he met in Germany. He married Karin in 1962. On July 5th they celebrated 60 years of marriage. While he was stationed there, they were blessed with the birth of their first child. In 1972 they moved to Wells, Vermont with their three children. Felix farmed with Willis's "Pug" Crossman for many years. Following that he did custodial work at Emma Laing Stevens Hospital in Granville and finished his career at the Dorset Elementary School. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Felix loved his family with all of this heart and taught them to hunt, fish and other skills to be self-sufficient. He will surely rest in peace knowing that his children, grandchildren could all live off they land if they had to. He was an avid gardener and loved making maple syrup. The art of making syrup was something he taught to his family, and they enjoyed doing this for many years. Felix was very involved in the community of Wells throughout the years. He was involved with the Town in different capacities: a former constable, dog warden, delinquent tax collector, planning commission member and an active member of the Delaney committee. He was a former member of the Wells Volunteer Fire Dept. and a long-time member of the MWA. He and Karin enjoyed trips to Maine and the call of the ocean. But another plus was taking in flea markets and yard sales between Vermont and Maine. He was well known for his famous yard sales in Wells, doing a large one to raise funds for the Delany Park. Felix and Karin loved going for rides looking for wildlife and could never pass up a farm stand if they happened on one. Felix was predeceased by his parents, four siblings James, Jack, Julia Buffum and Arlene Rogers and a grandson Brian. He is survived by his wife Karin, a son Felix A. Reed Jr. (Dorothy) of Florida, two daughters Fay Smith (Alfie Brooks) and Nora Sargent (John) all of Wells. He was blessed with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family.
