Obituary of Royal M. Harrison

Royal M Harrison Poultney, VT - Royal Michael Harrison Sr of Poultney, Vermont died unexpectedly on March 22, 2023. He was born on November 16, 1957 in Ira, Vermont the son of the late James and Marjorie (Potter) Harrison. Royal grew up in Raceville, NY. He owned and operated several slate quarries over the years and was known as the "slate wolverine." In his younger years he spent a lot of time in the racing circuits. He could be found every weekend at the racetracks with his F30. Last year he got back into the race car life with his son Royal Jr. He was looking forward to the upcoming season being on the pit crew of the new F30 sprint car. In addition to his parents, Royal was predeceased by a grandson baby Mark and his sisters Pamela Williams, Paula Lemery and Lucretia Ballard. He leaves behind his daughters Melissa Harrison of Hudson Falls, NY and Joyce Harrison LaCosse (Dan) of Hancock, MA and a son Royal Harrison Jr of Poultney, VT. He is survived by his siblings Richard Whitney (Sandy) of Middle Granville, NY, Daniel Whitney (Mary) of North Granville, NY, and Randy Harrison (Penelope) of Little Falls, NY, Helen Tyler of Rutland, VT and Jeffrey Harrison (Colleen) of Granville, NY. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Amber Perry, Austin Perry (Kontessa), Lucas Sisco (Hannah), William Graves, Carter Graves and Rolan Harrison as well as two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his fur baby and best friend Milo. Per Royal's wishes he will be cremated and his children will spread his ashes throughout the quarries. There will be a gathering to celebrate his life on April 1st at the Middle Granville Fire House at 1PM. If you wish to bring a dish to share, the family would greatly appreciate it.
