Mildred F. Carabeau
Hartford, NY - Mildred F. Carabeau, 86, of Hartford, NY, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Millie was born February 8, 1937, to the late Frank and Annie (Spaulding) Moot.
Millie grew up in Cavendish, VT, and worked as a bookkeeper for the Town of Tinmouth and her late husband's business, and the Rutland Hospital. In her adult years, she lived in Tinmouth and Danby, VT; St. Agatha and Limestone, ME; and finally, Hartford, NY.
She enjoyed fishing, her flower gardens, birdwatching and was always up for an adventure, especially traveling all over the country with the RV which she and her husband, Bud, did many times. She was particularly fond of their trips to Alaska. Together, she and Bud enjoyed making maple syrup in their retirement years and sharing their love of it with all the visitors who came to see their maple operation. Millie was an excellent cook, known for her pies, cookies, and spaghetti, among many other favorite recipes which were handed down through the family for future generations to enjoy. Above all Millie cherished any time spent with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Millie is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Vernon "Bud"; her seven children, Rhonda, Laurie, Richard (Sarah), Theresa (Terry), Julie; stepdaughters Jo-Ann (Kirk) and Monica Latz; eight cherished grandchildren: Joseph (Rebeca), Adam (Fawn), Emily (Chet), William (Tiffany), Katelynn (Daniel), Matthew, Margaret, and Henry; Five treasured great-grandchildren: Catherine, Carter, Reese, Gemma-Rose, and Dylan; many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Millie was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Annie, husband Clifton, sister Marion (Paul), brother Arthur (Rosalie), sister Alice (Gerald), brother Harold (Janet), and brother Harry.
