Milton E. Smith of Granville died Sunday, March 31 at Fort Hudson Rehabilitation Center in Hudson Falls, NY after a long illness. Milton was born on October 7, 1935 in Granville to Leo G. & Laura (Kibling) Smith. He graduated from Granville School in 1953 & proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea, serving in the DMZ. Milton owned & operated a dairy farm in Middle Granville for 25 years, before working at several jobs. He retired from Encore Paper Company in 2000, and then delivered Sam's Good News of Rutland for 14 years. Milton was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Raceville for over 60 years. He was an active member of the Adirondack Harley Owner's Group & rode his Harley to many places including Wyoming, Sturgis, SD, the Great Smokey Mountains, Nova Scotia & everywhere in between. He was a member of the American Legion & the VFW, as well as the American Legion Riders & the Patriot Guard. Milton is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Smith, his daughter Beth, three stepsons, Guy (Brenda), Stephen & Mark, a granddaughter, Shalon Mattison (Tyler Graulich) & three great-grandsons, Jordon & Darren Barrett & Park Graulich. He is also survived by his sister, Ellie (Paul) Schatz of Madison, WI & his sister-in-law, Sherry Smith of N. Scituate, RI, and several nieces & nephews.He will be loved and remembered for his special bond with Lloyd and Kim Jones. He was predeceased by his parents & his older brother, Ray Smith. The family would like to thank Fort Hudson Rehabiliation Center for the wonderful care given to Milton and the kindness and compassion to his family. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Robert M King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, NY 12832 at 3 PM. Friends may call from 12 until 2:45 PM. Burial will be announced for a later date. Donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Raceville, 477 Butler Road, Hampton, NY 12837, to the American Cancer Society for Prostrate Cancer, POB 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or to the charity of one's choice.
